Large, glossy, light green leaves and golden yellow fall color. Resistant to the bronze birch borer. Tan to creamy white bark, exfoliating in thin strips. A superior landscape tree for many situations
Transplants well, prefers a moist, well-drained acidic soil. Cold hardy to -40 degrees. River Birch found naturaly along river banks and streams, but also does well in drier upland sites. Prune in summer or fall to prevent "bleeding".
